Valentine's Day Special

Okyee.... every year.. this day seems to be lot of fun.. and especially in the last few years.. it has gain more importance due to the promos done by Archies, Hallmark etc.. etc... but what the heck.. if you get one more day to express your love.. then lets all be game for it...

Here is nandoo's research on what guys do on valentine's day
A) There will be another set of guys brooding about thier school day crushes and wondering how nice it would be if they are together now
B) There will be definitely one set of boys trying to propose to thier girl friends on this occasion and see if it works out.
C) There will be another set of guys trying to help thier friends by giving ideas and suggestions to see if his friends love clicks on that day
D) Another group of guys talking philospohy about the valentines day as a marketing strategy just like the way i begun this post
E) Another group of guys who will be planning to enjoy the evening with their love...
F) Newly married (Naan thaan naan thaan) guys planning to impress thier wives :)
G) some more matured guys married for quite some year...but still planning for some surprises for thier wives ... after fighting with them the day before.
H)some middle aged men watching thier teen aged kids preparing secretly for valentine... and trying to also gift something for thier wife without letting the kids know about it..
I) some very old men giving a piece of sweet to thier wife (supposed to be the grandmother) and tell that they came to know from their grandson that it was valentines day today and loving couple should celebrate it. :D

It took me twenty five years to reach from A,B,C,D to F and :D there is a long way to go till I reach G,H, I ... and even after that... i will keep loving my sweetheart forever and ever...

Vellayangiri

Last weekend we drove to the place called poondi near coimbatore and there is this holy place called velliyangiri ...

it is a shiva temple.. located at the foot hills.. the mountain behind the temple has got great significance and people used to climb 5 hills to reach to a cave and worship the god. And people go there for chitra powrnami... (every 12th special full moon day).

The drive to this place was awesome.. we didnt take our camera as usual and managed to get some pics through mobile.

It is all misted hills with clouds all around and green fields on the sides of the road... on a dusty evening... after rains...

There were moments, which made us stop for a moment and gaze around the beauty...

This place is very close to the overly hyped Isha Dhyanalingam. I am not great fan of that place but I liked it for the calmness which is prevailing over there. They are trying to be with the nature and trying to intrude with it.

Eprarthana Says: Velliyangiri is a beautiful temple situated in one amongst the five hills of historical importance. The five hills symbolically represents the five different faces of Lord Shiva. This is the only temple where PanchaLinga can be seen. Lord Brahma was fast asleep and lacked in his duty. So to overcome his sin he started meditating at Himalayas where he got Shiva Dharisanam and was guided to continue his meditation in the name of Pattimuni at perur. Pleased by the devotion Siva Peruman along with Umaiammai performed " Annantha Natanam " at Perur, Velliambalam.Mother Kalidevi overjoyed on seeing this asked Lord Shiva to bless her to have this " Annantha Natana " darshan always, At once Umaiammai asked Lord Shiva to perform a dance for her alone insisting that she is the first and right person to see and enjoy his " Natanam ". Lord Shiva happily performed a "Natanam" at Velliyangiri Moolasthanam ( Velliambalam) and blessed Umaiammai.

Footloose

After a long break, nandoo is back to blogging.... athukunu ithini naal naan blog pannama illa.. side track la...oru blog ottitu irunthen... didnt know if i can actually make it by creating a seperate travelouge... but yes... nandoo opens another blog exclusively to write about places where i visit... (alright people.. nandoo and ammu visit)

Talking about travelling... nowadays there are lot of people who travel on daily basis on that OMR... epadiyum 1.5 hrs to 2 hours travel pannranga... travelling can be seen as a dedicated time for your self... you get lot of time to sleep (which is what most people in the IT buses do) and some people read books (like or pretend reading baldacci :P) and hear music... catch up with fm radio... if you are travelling on your own... then there is lot more fun ... like going for a street racing... or hearing loud music in your car... or ipod's when you drive bikes... the list is endless..

seriously.. i never cribbed about travelling long distance... or travelling on daily basis... (chumma doop.. you never know how much i am relieved due to my office shift to perungudi)

be it a long vacation.... or a one day trip... or a trek experience... or a nature walk... there might be sections which will sound synonymical to "The Road less travelled" because nandoo and ammu prefers going to places like that... i dont want to list about famous tourist spots... but unusual face of usual spots... and unknown entities that everyone would like to explore...

I have writen some previous posts on travel.... like my daily trip to office.... so on.. but this will more filled with pictures and less words... and it wont be very professional about having a detailed information like... which year this was built? how tall this place is ? how many kms it is from the nearest airport? - No definitely no .. Nandoo is poor in mathematics and any misdirection will lead to chaos.. so dont trust the directions that i provide here.... instead.. try to walk with my words and see what i have captured for you... all the way and cultivate the habit of visiting places and taking breaks and ofcourse.... enjoyyyyy travelling.....

Kallar Horticultural Farm

Most of the people who drive to Ooty from coimbatore metupalayam route.... never try to notice this little place which is at the footsteps of the hills.

When you drive near that old steel bridge which heads to the first hair pin bend for climbing upto ooty.. you will notice the sign board for kallar.... Yes Kallar is the name of the little river... which flows out silently ..... and you can also see a road on the left side of the road... which takes to a government horticultural farm... it is called Kallar horticultural farm... not a very famous tourist spot.. but we chose it because it is less crowded and nice getaway from daily chores...

the place looks serene... and densely crowded with huge trees... there is a big banyan tree which will be near the entrance... welcoming you... to go and explore the scenic beauty of the farm...
Entry ticket is just Rs 5 and timings are between 10 AM to 4 PM... Make sure to reach between those times.

You can see lot of monkeys playing out there(like the one above :P) .. and be careful not to carry any eatables in hand... But definitely its an altogether different place to go for a nature walk.. and spend time with trees and plants.. you can also hear a little stream of water flowing all the way...

Has got varieities of plants and flowers... they also sell fruits, plants and other related stuff...
