Potramarai Kulam - Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple

Recently went for a drive from coimbatore to Madurai... the route was pretty nice... we went through pollachi...palani and then on the way we also made it to pazhamudhir chozhai.... and next day morning... we started early to avoid crowd and reached temple before 7 AM.

Almost by 8 o clock, we were outside sitting near the potramarai kulam... watching the sun rays on the pond... since i dont carry camera, when i go inside the temples, i have just caught few glimpses of the famous pond....

I should say the last 20 minutes, that we sat there near the pond was so divine and ecstatic.

Wiki Says: Potramarai Kulam, the sacred pond measuring 165 ft by 120 ft, inside the temple is a very holy site for the devotees and people go around the lake before entering the main shrine. The etymology for the word means, the Pond with the Golden Lily and as the Lily that grows in it has a golden color. According to the legend, Lord Shiva promised to a stork that no fish or other marine life would grow here and thus no marine animals are found in the lake.[11] In the Tamil legends, the lake is supposed to be a judge for judging a worth of a new literature. Thus, authors place their works here and the poorly written works are supposed to sink and the scholastic ones are supposed to float

Paradox of our age

Recent inspiration

The Paradox of Our Age

by
Dalai Lama

We have bigger houses but smaller families;
More conveniences, but less time;
We have more degrees, but less sense;
More knowledge, but less judgment;
More experts, but more problems;
More medicines, but less healthiness;
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.
We build more computers to hold more information to
produce more copies than ever but have less communication.
We have become long on quantity,
but short on quality.
These are times of fast foods but slow digestion;
Tall man but short character;
Steep profits but shallow relationships.
It's a time when there is much in the window,
but nothing in the room.

Eat to live... Live to Eat....

Inspired by Gils post ... naanum ennaku therinja saapadu item pathi eluthren...

Ok here we go..... konjooondu thaan... padichikongo :D padichitu pasikuthu... apdinu solla koodathu...

Let me go by Cuisines so that it is easy to classify and list down

South Indian

Dakshin - Park Sheraton –.. this will be first in my list when it comes to south indian… Chettinad la I like melagu naatu kozhi kolumbu, mutton sukka, vanjiram fry, mutton leg paya....
aprom starters nu sollitu veg la vaazhapoo vadai, banana dosa aiyoo me drooling now :P

Malgudi - Savera,– the food is really good and not too costly like five star… and this hotel means so much to me :D (something very special about this restaurant is they will have magician coming to your table and they have kili josiyam, kai regai josiyam all that in the restaurant)

Kumarakom - Kerala, - Kerala food… I just love them :D Kerala dishna.. that karimeen moli, coconut oil pottu deep fry panna fish (red colourla irukkum) aprom adai prathaman (payasam)

Nagarjuna - Andhra, T.Nagar – Andhra even though it is spicy… its is also one of my favourites… Andhara - Koli vepudu, I generally like that andhra mess full meals.. pappu, podimaas, curries, gongura chutney, ladies finger fry, hot rasam and finally curd with sugar :D yummmy ithu kooda soooda oru omlette

Crown - Residency Towers –this is one of the romantic place… especially for candle light dinners… ncie food and nice ambience

GRT Grand Days – very nice menu spread… decent place to arrange wedding reception and family functions…. One of my favorite place… murungaka soup and ladies finger deep fry is awesome here..

Southern Spice - Taj Coramendal – too expensive but not as good as Dakshin .. you must try the prawns varuval…aiyoooo sooooberaa irukkkum

North Indian

Dhaba - Punjabi, Cenatoph Road –..myself and rajesh go here every weekend and full kattu kattuvom.. very nice place… you will like the ambience … athuvum lunch time la that 55 Rs buffet… soober… suda suda jilebi kedaikum… and lot of healthy salads…

Kabul - North West frontier, TTK Road – not a very good one…but once in a while inge pogalam .. Kabul biriyani is my favourite here and also that hariyaali kabab…. We will order atleast 2 plates.. atleast

Peshawri - Chola Sheraton – worst… not at all worth for the money.. too much of hype… just because it is sheraton group . just mentioned it here so that people don’t go here and waste their money…

Thai
Benjorang - TTK Road – need I have to say anything about this hotel ;) hmmmmm inge food rumba nalla irukum… all people who are so particular about Thai food definitely should visit here… kung pung ching apdinu oru menu card irukkum ;) I have tried almost all of them… pad thai.. red curry and that ground nut + mango salad are my favorites

Malaysian
Nasi Kandar Pelita – aiyo aiyo I love this place.. very nice menu for the decent price rate… all sambal varieties are nice here.. you get good karuvaadu.. here.. not many restaurants serve you karuvadu :D and nasigori and meegori… are also different from the normal fried rice and biriyani stuff

Italian
Little Italy – Nungambakkam - if you like Italian food… immediately this hotel comes to my mind… they have got very nice food here.. but I think it is a vegetarian ..not sure…. Rumba naal aachu inge poyi… very costly though.. pasta … spaghetti.. broccoli all bland food.. not my kinda food

Mexican
Don Pepe - Cathedral Road –… it may not be authentic Mexican… but definitely worth trying once here…

Newyorker - UG Road – ithu chumma.. added to list.. oru naal lunchku ingaepogalam.. they have got only vegetarian .. jains comes to this hotel.. cos they have jain speacilities here..

Chinese

Golden Dragon - Taj Coramandel – good one :D but very expensive…. Rendu peru sapdrathuku epdiyum 4-5K aagum but aiyo those steamy dimsum… those manchow soups…that ball fried ice cream.. I haven’t tasted such a lovely Chinese food anywhere

Mainland China - Sterling Road – sooooper restauretn .... buffet is definitely good here.. ideal for team lunch or treats

Wangs Kitchen - Velachery – this one is very close to our house.. walkable distance.. so ennaku epo ellam Chinese food sapdanumnu thonutho.. inge poyiduven…

Continental

Fisherman's Cove been here lot of times… paandi naatu paravai soup… deep fried fish satay… karimeen mozhi aprom those kutti potato fry ellame soooper…we used to have a very relaxed lunch here… I mean it will stretch for alteast 3 to 4 hours…

Matchpoint - Taj Coramandel – only for vella karans.. I didn’t like this hotel… rendu idly oru plate sambar kodkrathuku ennamo avan appan veetu sotha eluthi veikra mathiri bill opdraan J

Cornucopia – intha hotel oru range a irukkum.. I don’t know.. you might lilke the food they serve here….. I did all experimentation.. the food was bland.. didn’t like it somehow..

CEDARS – this has got nice lebanese food… but a beautiful ambience… the pizza that they server there are quite different from the ones you normally get outside… and yummy too

Okay.. itha thaviara.. there are lot of hotels which are not very famous.. called the local hotels.. but definitely nice ones to give a try…

Chettinad

Velu military hotel.. – inge saapdu soopera irukkum… shouldn’t expect ambience and all..

Ponnusaammy.. this is one nice hotel in royapettah.. bezant nagar.. inge non veg dish ella soopera irukkum.. ponnusaamy biriyani is also famous... but it is famous for rabitt/turkey/pigeon dishes..which you wont get outside...

Karaikudi.. way too expensive for the chettinad food they serve here … but definitely anjappar.. ponnusaamy.. and velu military hotel are far better than karaikudi..

Vegetarianla there are some specaility restaurants.. like Mathsya… Palimar… Aiyo… mount roadla oru restaurent irukku peru maranthu pochu.. athuvum soopera irukkum.. veratham irukura timela.. anga poyi oru kattu kattiduven

Biriyani

Aprom biriyanikunueee. There are some hotels.. biryani bistro …. Nawaz durbar biriyani.. aprom ambur biriyani.. pudupettai biriyani.. thalapa kattu biriyani… murahaba biriyani buhari biriyani ..this is very famous.. for biriyani..

Kaiyenthi bavan

Then there are some kaiyendhi bavan near bus stand.. which serves nice food.. kaiyenthi bavanla kedaikra parotta kurma… chance illa… athu tastee thani.. and that beef curry… aiyoo athuvum soopera irukkum…

See I told you it is a small list … :P

P.S Also check my previous article if you havent read that one.

Surprise

Aiyoooo it was an awesome drive...... last weekend... it was my sister birthday... and she was all alone in pudukottai (It is in between Trichy and karaikudi). Me and my akka purusan decided to go there and give her a sweet surprise.... She was actually expecting us to come there... but we said... we have some work that weekend and we cannot make it. :D

So Saturday September 8th Early morning we decided to take my chellam (Swift) and drive to pudukottai..... never been on a long drive before.... plus akka purusan... dont know driving... aiyoo ennakum innum jolly..... We finally started at around 6 o clock.. and slowly driving to pudukottai... the onward journey was not very interesting because... we were talking talking all the time.. and driving very slowly... and by the time... we were nearing trichy... we wanted to make sure.. that nobody breaks our surprise.... so I started driving real faster... we didnt bother to stop for lunch... all we wanted to do is... go and stand in front of her and give a big surprise...

so finally by 2 o clock we reached home... and it was as expected a big surprise for the entire family.... ofcourse we were tired....

but what i really enjoyed was the return journey... a feast to my driving skills .. it was sunday afternoon... we had packed lunch from home.. meen kozhambu.. meen varuval.. and some water and pepsi... while returning back the climate was sooober.. it was all cloudy and raining in between... at one point of time .. the rain went so heavy.. that we couldnt see the road at all... we slowed down.. and again.. after driving for quite some distance.. i could see sunlight all over again... marupudiyum... it went cloudy... and raininig and sunshine again... it was nice.. we stopped at a place near thozhudoor.. ... near a shaddy tree.... the place was tooo good it was breazy... shady... and quite.... car a niruthitu... had a nice lunch.. and a talked for some 30 minutes and then we started to gear up again.... now comes the full throttle.. we had a tough chase with a green tavera... i didnt give him a chance to over take me for atleast 45 minutes.. and finally there was a railway crossing and when i went to follow the queue.. the tavera went all right.. and over took us...

And when we reached the thindivanam toll free road.. the road was welcoming us for a full speed test... it was all empty on a sunday evening and asking us to go as speedy as we can... though we didnt want to take any risks.. we were maintainig a steady speed between 140... and 120. Finally reached Chennai...

We made this birthday a rememborable one for my sis... and ofcourse my first long drive which i would cherish for my life time...

Independence Day?

Independence day???

India celeberates 60th Independece Day .... Yes the count will keep on adding every year... i remember the big celebrations for our golden jubliee when I was in school... now what does independence day mean ....

  • Its big banner and Hoardings where AIRTEL and HUTCH keeps all over the city

  • Ethinic, Traditional Celebrations all over the offices where people try to show their patriotism?

  • Flag hoisting and Sweets distribution on Schools

  • Ulaga tholai kaatchikigalil muthal muraiyaga..... on the idiot box at home....

Oru naal kodiya kuthitu ... flag salute panrathuku peru celebrating independece day'aa????

When I ask this question to my friends they reply back saying.... half the crowd dont even do that.... so atleast it makes a difference....

I am not saying... go completely desi.... wear khadi dress... say "Maa tujhe salam" every day… ....but atleast few things which we can do....also adds to showing respect to the mother country.

  • Try to visit the near by school or nagar where flag hoisting is done every independece day once atleast.

  • If possible Encourage Soldiers and Other troops by visiting their March Past (Did I spell that right?)Try to learn about India freedom Struggle rather than giggling and saying... i dont know ... who cared for history.. i studied only for marks....

  • And last but not the least..... BE PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN... especially when you visit.. other coutries.... maintain your self esteem and dignity... be proud... to say that you are from INDIA in all the airport entries.

Blog ren Blog ren .....[Filler]

I am thinking of so many things to blog....

1. Independence day???

2. True Love - Dedicated to Cheenu

3. Nandoo & Traffic Police

4. How does it feel :D

But you see... nandoo is very busy nowadays.... this post is just a reminder for myself to complete the pending lists.... so will keep this space updated soon....

Oru thavaru seiythaal athai theriinthu seiythaal

"Oru thavaru seiythaal athai theriinthu seiythaal avan thevan endraalum vida maaten"

ennamaa padi irukkar namma M.G.R...

last thursday while i was returning from office to home... i saw a guy driving qualis rash on the road.. he was about to hit two to three two wheelers......

Ok when some one does something very annoying there are 4 categories of people... so far i know and this incident made me realise where i fit in...

category #1 - doesnt even bother for whatever that happens.... keeps going

category #2 - blame the system for everything and keeps going

category #3 - try to fix it on own or seek the help from the exisiting system but quits when there is actually no response

category #4 - trys to fix it hard .... or takes the extra mile to get it done with the exisitng system...

now back to anna salai.. thursday rainy evening... full of traffic and annoying driver...

ok me not qualified enough to condemn rash driving cos i do that most of the times... but what really made every one to get on to their nerve was when that qualis driver tried to dodge away from a gentleman who asked the guy to stop for a moment....

aprom enna sollava venum... apdiye nandoo bikelenthu chumma paranthu paranthu... dive panni... heheheee sirikaatheenga... ok some how me managed to chase the guy and stopped my bike right in front of his qualis... near the t.nagar hyundai show room... couple of more guys who were chasign also follwed and surrounded that qualis fellow....

we asked him to come out and mudinja alavuku ellarume avana pudichi erinom... ithellam seri padathunu naa poyi pakathulla iruntha maama ( i meaan traffic police kaarar) kootitu vara ponen... that maama.. refused to come to the spot.. he asked me to bring the guy there.. serinu kootitu ponom... he also for his pangu... pudichi eritu vitutaar...

what the *(%& .. ennagada.. avlo thaana... naa othuka maaten... this guy deserves more than what he got now... inspite of several warnings he tried to dodge everyone and we have caught him red hand.. with risking our lives and this bloody maama ..lets him go.. when asked again... he asks us back to file a complaint in the near by saidapet police station...

by this time.. most of the people who were standing along with me left to home.. there were only two of us along with that poor driver standing with maama... so now it is left to us to handover this fellow to police... or forgive him...

we still couldnt let that guy go... he almost started crying when we asked him to come to police station... aprom enna mayithuku apdi vandiaya otanum...

I snatched his driving licence from him.. took all his details... and said he will be called later by the police.. avan enna aluthu porandum ellathaaiyum vaangitu vanthuten...

Vehicle number TN 02 k 3701
Driver name : Devadas
Driving licence C/TN/010/002591/2006

also got the contact number from the other guy who was standing with me.. just in case if they ask for some more proofs.

What i am really pissed off that day is not about that guy who drove rash.. but that irresponsible maama.... who just stands there without taking any action when public gets involved on something which is actually against the law.

Now its upto me to stay in category 3# or take another step to get into category 4#

what do you say???

Friday

Typed this last friday after lunch break :D

It’s a Friday and am typing this after lunch… there is no work scheduled to do for today am just checking mails… listening to “Mouhname unnidam” song from Mozhi…. It looks so pleasant today..no worries on top of my mind… just relaxed… and wondering what am doing sitting here at my desk… ( I usually do that :P )

Just took a look at my desktop to see what I have accomplished.. how many times would I have taken a look to see at how my desktop looks…

To my left there is a big bisleri bottle… almost half empty… oops I am optimist I should rather say half full :P …then as usual the IP 2004 notrtel phone with extension 2838 displaying digital time 2:55 PM J and just behind it is this great chunk of machinery that helps me earn every month .. ya you got that right.. DELL pc with a USB drive stuck to it…. Looks like… vendam :-)

And then this 17” flat… lcd display… and to my right there is a nice samsonite monthly calendar with a caption “Life’s a Journey” and also with a super figure … ;-) and some yellow stickies on my white board.. with some project details and call center ticket details.. I also have some numbers written for emergency…what if I lose my mobile again.. I should atelast know whom to contact right… and then there is a big yellow smiley round gift… it smiles at me… it was gift from one sweet dumbo…over it there is a duster…should I call it duster.. cos we write with marker on white boards… alright.. some wipy thing and over it is a stapler.. and I guess that’s it…

It looks already very clean.. should I clean it again… :-) Thank god they don’t allow my mom inside the office….

“Solli mudikum oru sollin vattathil palar solli pona oru porul irukkum.. sollai kadantha.. pennin mouna kootukul pala kodi kodi porul kudi irukum…. Mouname… unnidum..hmmmm hmmm hmmmmmmm “

If I had been there ......

Sometimes feeling bad... not able to get into a foriegn country... and earn in dollars...visit places... share photographs.... but many times feeling good of being able to live in Chennai..be with parents... be with my doggy... be with the childrens at SMILE...

Many a times.. people ask me .. why didnt you try for a onsite oppurtunity......come on you must be earning in pounds and dollars.... even after hearing all that... i too feel... why didnt i try to work some where outside the home town and earn in dollars......but later then... i feel i did take up the right decision of stayin here... after all success is what we measure as a result of our decisions....

We grow... grow up as adults... and start earn in thousands... lakhs... which is all good... buy a car... buy a home.... get married....if you look at each and every moment that you could rejoice in your life... you will also find your parents... rejoicing twice about thier childrens prosperity.... there are no expectations from them....

they too worked hard... they earned for us in hundreds..thousands...took loans... for our education.... tried to save a little.... sacrificed most of their pleasures... and lived for us... and still living for us... now people who worked with me (22 out of 25) ... have happily flyed out to U.S (which is the only place in earth considered for living at least according to them
alright.. no offence meant... not all of them :)) .... happily go out to all possible tourist destinations....take photos.. and share that... not even knowing that we sitting here might be least intrested to see some unknown place in the earth with just 2 or 3 well known idiots posing in differnt directions... they come back .... they get married... they go back...
probably ask parents to come in a dependent VISA (Mind You! - You have been dependent on them for all your ages ... before you were actually earning and still dependent on them to grow up your kids..... a baby sitter in US actually cost more and you are not willing to pay for that.....)
They may not be able to withstand the cold or extreme weather.. they may be missing out thier own set of people with whom they have thier evening chats.... they may be missing thier daily visit to the nearby temple... but inspite of all that... they wanted to travel miles... just because... they want to be their children and grandchildren.. just for the comfort of being with thier own souls.... I have seen so many such souls in airport who wanted to live with thier children...they pack everything and also try to get accustomed to this new way of life... and come and stay with you for some time.....but all their heart will be longing to come back to India....

Once in a while.... may be your christmas vacation.... people come out to visit the home town... and the main intention may not be to see those dear ones.... but something which sounds different!!!! yes ... to investtt??? their hard earned dollars into some real estate property... and nothing else... get the formalities.. done... and here again... the parents are busy
the whole month before you arraive to finanlise on the place....

Nobody can refuse all these... maybe some are doing it.. and some wanted to do this... and some dont have the oppurtunity to do this... but almost... 60-70% of people are following this trend....

But for how long is the question... how many of us are content with what we earn... how many people who went to US are really thinking back to settle down here in India... how many of them are still struggling for a green card and citizenship... forget it.. it is not going to be my problem :-)

I am happy that I am with them... I am happy to see a new soap in the soap box every time i need a new one...all those little things that my mom does for me... I am happy to sip the bed coffee served with love every morning.... nobody need to tell me a good morning... all i need is that cuppa of coffee from my mom..... I am lucky enough to enjoy such little moments in life....I dont share my life with a canon 6 mega pixel camera ... i share it real... with them... do a vetti talk before going to bed... hug them everytime in mornign... make fun... laugh... i am proud that i dont have a third person as a driver.. when i take my parents out for any function...

I feel it is my responsibility to ensure that their dreams are realized and what they failed to see when they were young,it is my responsibility to ensure that they experience all those they should and feel that their life is complete.I will do my best to give the best possible attention to all their wishes. Just because they are old does not mean that they will have to give up everything and keep sacrificing for their grandchildren also. They have wishes, too.

There is no more asking to myself......If I had been there.....

P.S: Inspired by recent movie which I saw (Cinema Paradiso)
Salvatore (hero) stays in a village and he gets a invaluable freindship of Alfredo( a theatre projectionist)... with the advise from Alfredo... Salvatore leaves his home town.. and returns back after 30 years....

Salvatore ask his mom - Do you ever felt that you missed me?
Mom - No i dont... but i feel that only when I bolt the door in the night...
Salvatore - You never used to bolt the door those days..
Mom - I do (smiling)... those day when you come late from the theatre... i used to pretend that I am sleeping.... once you reach home... i silently go to the door and bolt it before i sleep....
but now after you have left from here.... and every night when i bolt the door... i used to feel that i am leaving some one out there.... far away...
Salvatore - silences for a moment.. with tears n eyes..

P.P.S - This post may not be true for all those who live abroad... so dont get offended if you are staying abroad...... because thoughts may vary... opinions differ... these are all just my point of view and after all its my blog :-) take it easy

Your children are not your children

Recently there has been lot of discussion going on about parenting.. and home schooling... education system... blah.. blah... blah....

whatever be it.. we must treat humans as humans.. and not an object of experimentation... the present generation fathers & mothers are giving too much of attention to thier kids.. and the kids are pampered a way more than they should actually deserve.. in a way it is not good for both the ends..

Here are somethings which i feel should be given attention when dealing with kids...

If you ask me.... how do i know all this... i am father of 400 children :P dont ask me how???

Punishment.... do we actually need these.... even as grown ups.. do we feel better or change for better if we are made to feel worse by getting punished... definitely i dont... i actually hold grudge or take revenge on someone who tries to punish me.. and dont go on the betterment path... As parents... teachers.. everyone must understand... giving punishments is no way going to help the children... rather it creates a distance.. and fear amongst them...

Pointing out.... never point out the name of children for any mistake ... dont relate the name with the activity..... just comment on whatever action which is not desirable at the moment... at the same time.. dont over generalise the mistake of the kids.. it is because of parents.. and teachers.. the children fall into a impression.. that "I am always like that :-( " i am saying it loud.. this is very very crucial ..... all of you who now say.. that " I always mess up" think back once... it must have been someone who dumped this into your mind...

Questioning... i watched this many times.. some parent ignore when something the child questions ... or parents getting annoyed if the child asks something repeatedly and when they dont have an exact answer.... this is somethign to do with the ability of a person to answer to kid and also the interest taken from the parental side.. alright.. why blame parents alone.. even the teachers for that matter...

if we dont know something.. we must admit that first to child... and also give assurance to see if they can also find something on it... :D i am sure it is fun.... have figured out so many things in life...

this way we encourage the " reason for thinking" ability in the kid... right from childhood... which is essential.. instead of going .. "that is the way it is"

Also if you know somethign.. dont just give a blunt answer.. rather ask the kid to research and let them find their own solutions... may be you tweak them to your response.. or god knows.. you accept their findings too...

Too often we give our children answers to remember rather than problems to solve.
--- Roger Lewin

Dont expect.... lastly.. dont expect the kid to meet your expectations... rather... if you are really concerned.. you go and meet thier expectations... this is beautifully expressed in one of the Kahllil Gibran poem..... each and every line in this poem has got so much of importance....

Here you go..

On Children
Kahlil Gibran

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,

For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday

Final word... even though we read lot of books, articles... i re-iterate the first point.. treat them as children.. not an object of experimentation... or a successor of your thoughts... let them explore it thier own way....

Blame Game

Two things… after seeing the career aspirations?? of students who outshined the recent results made me write this postAll good scorers in Tenth standard would like to take computer science group in plus one
All good scorers in Twelfth standard would like purse Computer engineering and become a software engineer! So far we all are getting into a understanding that education is to get a job and job is to get money… and once we have money in life … we are stable… but just having to come through this stream … do we really stop with that… we want more and more… … be it money… or success in corporate ladder… pride… what if we are suddenly hit by something which we do not expect…. Are we ready to face it? We still encourage our next generation to follow the same path of what we did some few years before…. Almost all the farmers son during my batch are well settled in US/Bangalore wearing tag for XYZ Corporation. What about the future of those farmed/unfarmed lands? Who is going to takeover it for tomorrow?
Today education system is more of a job oriented manufacturing system, which only prepares students competent enough to be a part of the emerging IT industry. I dont see any encouragement for course like Agriculture.

I will list some course which are still available in many universities with very little admissions... but truly speaking do we have jobs for these coursesAnthropologyArcheologyHumanitieshow many of us encourage our kids for courses likeB.sc Agriculture, Tourism Management, Environmental Awareness, Social Workthe entire industry has to take its turn to see the change in the academia... till then we will have students rushing into the stream of engineering where they get a 5 digit salary as thier first pay, this will not stop and having said that are we prepared for life to face any of bitter experiences? Are we bothered about creating a peaceful society? We all earn for our living and what if there is financial crisis/war?

I am not being pesimisstic but how are we going to deal with a sudden change like this? How many of us still have the identity of our local communities from where we came from? How many of us are atleast proud to say that I am from this part of country rather than saying.. I visited Las Vegas.. I went to Chicago… do we really bothered to see a boom in eco-centrism rather than closely watching rise in the economy like BSE…. We need to understand few things… life is more than just computers… internet … life is beyond job… salary.. perks.... appraisals.. onsite opportunities… and education is not only a means to procure a job which gives all of the above… we are part of the nature… we all live as chain…. Slowly there is a something fading in human relations and the relation between man and the nature…. I know am wandering topics between.. Education system… preserving trees… emerging IT…. Humanity…. But I don’t see them as individual topics… anything and everything in the world are inter-related… There is no doubt that we will continue to have huge projects with challenging deadlines all at our desk .. but I really doubt if we would have people to care and support… water to drink and air to breathe if this kind of job oriented manufacturing (education) system continues…..

Helmet

Intha govermentku vera velaya kedayathaa...

Innailenthu helmet compulsoryaam... even kettan ithella.. oorula nallathu pannavendiyathu evalo irukku atha vitutu...

There are lot of disadvantages because of this compulsion... See let me list one by one

1. Guys may not be able to see the figure face who are riding scooty,tooty...
2. The concept of full speed bike romance is doomed if both guy & gal wears helmet :(
3. One person may not be able get a lift on the way to office or home. He/She has to carry a helment if they need a lift
4. Vayasana paati/thaatha paavam very difficult to wear helmet and sit at the back (see i am not only concerned about figures)
5. Aiyoo the main part, aunties dont look good with Saree and Helmet... chaa :(
6. Going triples is not possible because heads will collide if all 3 wear helmet and sit so close together

Other proven medical disadvantages
1. Thala kanam pudichavangaloda thala kanam innum eridum :D
2. Sotta thala will become more sotta thala, every time they wear and remove micham irukura moonu masurum pichikum
3. Neck pain will be caused (that neck/spine joint bone) if the helmet is heavy and the road is full of bumps.. (this atleast is true)

Innovations required

People wearing glasses should be easily wear helmet without removing glass, probably the wizer mirror should be available with various eye power so no need to wear glass

There should be a wiper in the wizer so that people dont have to manually wipe the wizer in case of rain

Helmets should have inbuilt headphones and a provision for connectiving the stereo RC jack, so that one doesnt have to wear head phones and then wear helmet (Caution: Do not listen to music when driving)

hmmm will update this post as and when people report more problems

I am back!!!

if you are wondering where the hell did this nandoo go? i dont know.. i wasnt that busy .. nor i was travelling ...just like that... i didnt have the mood to write... i could call it lazyness... aama namma eluthi enna aaga poguthu ... but then.. after so many days... today .. nandoo woke up again and wanted to post something here ... again this is not my sondha saraku... it is a extract of a speech... and i dont read all this englees books.. i got this as a mail forward some 3 years back... but somehow i preserve this email for so long in my mail box and read it at times when i feel bit down... so i am publishing it here in my blog.... if you have read this before... thats alright.... ivalo thooram padichiteenga.. ithaiyum ennakaga oru thadava padichidungaaaa. .... :D

Commencement speech made by Pulitzer Prize-winning author AnnaQuindlen at Villanova University:

I'm a novelist. My work is human nature. Real life is all I know.Don't ever confuse the two, your life and your work. You will walkout of here this afternoon with only one thing that no one else has.

There will behundreds of people out there with your same degree;there will be thousands of people doing what you want to do for aliving. But you will be the only personalive who has sole custody of your life.Your particular life. Your entire life. Not just your life at adesk, or your life on a bus, or in a car, or at the computer. Notjust the life of your mind, but the life of your heart. Not justyour bank account but your soul.

People don't talk about the soul very much anymore. It's so much easier to write a resume than to craft a spirit. But a resume is a cold comfort on a winter night, or when you're sad, or broke, or lonely, or when you've gotten back the test results and they're notso good.

Here is my resume:I am a good mother to three children. I have tried never to let myprofession stand in the way of being a good parent. I no longerconsider myself the center of the universe. I show up. I listen. I try to laugh. I am a good friend to my husband. I have tried to make marriage vows mean what they say. I am a good friend to my friends, and they to me. Without them, there would be nothing to say to you today, because I would be a cardboard cutout. But I call them on the phone, and I meet them for lunch. I would berotten, or at best mediocre at my job, if thoseother things were not true. You cannot be really first rate at yourwork if your work is all you are.So here's what I wanted to tell you today:

Get a life. A real life, not a manic pursuit of the next promotion, the bigger paycheck, the larger house. Do you think you'd care sovery much about those things if you blew an aneurysm one afternoon,or found a lump in your breast? Get a life in which you notice the smell of salt water pushing itself on a breeze over Seaside Heights, a life in which you stop and watch how a red tailed hawk circles over the water or the way ababy scowls with concentration when she tries to pick up a Cheeriowith her thumb and first finger. Get a life in which you are not alone. Find people you love, and who love you. And remember that love is not leisure, it is work. Pick up the phone. Send an e-mail. Write a letter. Get a life in which you are generous. And realize that life is the best thing ever, and that you have no business taking it for granted. Care so deeply about its goodness that you want to spread itaround. Take money you would have spent on beers and give it to charity. Work in a soup kitchen. Be a big brother or sister. All of you want to do well. But if you do not do good too, then doing well will never be enough. It is so easy to waste our lives, our days, our hours, our minutes. It is so easy to take for granted the color of our kids' eyes, the way the melody in a symphony rises and falls and disappears and rises again.

It is so easy to exist instead of to live.I learned to live many years ago. I learned to love the journey, not the destination. I learned that it is not a dress rehearsal, and that today is the only guarantee you get.I learned to look at all the good in the world and try to give someof it back because I believed in it, completely and utterly. And Itried to do that, in part, by telling others what I had learned.

By telling them this:Consider the lilies of the field. Look at the fuzz on a baby's ear.Read in the backyard with the sun on your face. Learn to be happy. And think of life as a terminal illness, because if you do, you will live it with joy and passion as it ought to be lived.

Ulaga laptop varalatril...muthal muraiyagaa.....

It was a lazy sunday at my friends house in blore... i didnt really have any plans for that day to go... so i was sitting with my friends lap top.. and also impressed with his 250GB USB portable hard disk which has very good collections of ripped movies.... i started to browse.. the folder... it was such a big folder which has atleast.. some 75-100 movies in it...starting from hindi.. english..tamil.. telugu... german?? and what not...

Decided to spend my whole day with lap top watching these movies........ to begin with .. this movie.. caught my eyes.. at first sight... tis none other than the American pie band camp series.... the same old goofy stuff.. but worth watching some scenes ;) and after quickly looking at that one... i couldnt stop with that.. so proceeded with a serious one now.. and now it was DER UTTERTANG.... it s a german movie about the fall of hitler.. the good thing was...it had english subtitles.. so started watching it.. first 10 minutes i was not sure if i could continue with this one.. but still proceeded with some guts... and finally this movie started to impress me... i started observing the actions of mein furher(hitler)..he has been decieved by his army generals... that is how....hitler the great dictator came to an end... some of them ((the generals) didnt like the way they were been treated so they wanted to be secure when it was actually a time to fight back....

After watching this touching movie... another folder caught my attention... it is none other thaan.. WATER... i knew there were some controversies..going around about this movie... but didn t get a chance to actually research on that... so there goes the start for the third movie... it was also a good one about the difficulties faced by the widows during our independence.. period... the heroin was pretty good... i dont recall her name.. but the little... kid must have caught everyones attention... that one also added to the serious list.... couldnt take it anymore.... so finished with that one... and wanted to continue on with a masala movie.. and this time it was NEAL N NIKKI..... i dont know what made me to choose this one... but i have seen some trailers of this movie when i was in mumbai last year.... so decide to giveit a try../.... i really felt bad to choose such a bad masala... it wasnt good..but still continued to watch because of the (you know what the reasons might be...) :D

Finally... little tired after watching all the movies... right from early morning... and kind of little hungry.. so decided give a break... and had lunch.. and took a little nap... but before i could sleep my friend came back.... and said.. guess what we are going for a movie now.. so hurry up get ready.. i asked what movie.. and where.... he said.. you come.. i 'll tellyou.. it was a local theathre in the marthahalli ring road... and he took me to a telugu movie.. :( aaaahhh.. i couldnt even remember the name.. aaaahnn... it was YOGI.... had to somehow sit till interval.. my head was aching..o could nt take it any more.. but unfortunately i may not be able to go.. coz.. my friend watching it very intrestingly... and the bike key is with him... that being the worst catch.... i had to sit with him till the end of tte movie... where our hero ... fights with everyone and finally settles with the heroin...

came back from the theater... and i was really sad...for being forced to sit in the theater for 3 hours.. so decided to go back to the lap top.. for another movie... now it was 40 year old virgin... :D good one... had real fun ..... if you have not watched it before.. i recommend you watch that movie.. and my thirst for movies didnt stop when i saw the folder name... called Kill Bill... i have heard from a friend of mine about this one... and Uma Thurman ... so finally didnt want to give. up... and it was full time action movie... with all the blood... violence and everything.... i decided to close my sunday.. hmmm what a day huh!!!!!

Tender cocunut!!!

There is a big crowd near the church... which i didnt expect at that point of time... it was too dark in the evening... and there is a small road side cocunut seller on that corner of the road... she is a handicapped woman who has been selling tender cocunuts there... i have been there a couple of times... during my morning walk with cheenu...

That specific day... I was going out for with drawing some money at the near by ATM... but then while returning back... i stopped for while..to understand.... what is really happening over there...

there is a big JCB earth mover crane... and a corporation employee standing with a piece of paper...the person claims that they have sent a notice... just one month before to remove the shop from there.. but there is no response.. from that lady... and the tiny little hut & shop has to be cleared now...

the lady... who own this hut... refuses to move out from that place... from her perspective.. where will she go... what is the alternative for her... is she the only person blocking the road.. infact.. it doesnt block any roads.. but is an hindarance for the corporation road expansion..???i dont know when the road expansion is going to happen... but after hearing all this.. i couldnt stay as a normal audience...

i just went to that corporation offical.. and asked... what is he really trying to do at this place.. mean while.. the person..who operates the earth mover...tried to create a scene as if he is going to demolish the hut..everyone standing there including me.. thought the hut would go into pieces.... but no.. the lady was sitting right next to the big wheel of that massive vehicle.. and the operator could nt move any more... she refused to come out from that place.... the operator has to stop.. proceeding further...

i started again.. can ask you person to be on hold for a minute..... do you think.. it is the right..way to do this..he started.. Sir i have been in service for the past 35 years.. and all this sentiments and all will not work while clearing the sideways... we are also humans.. but at the same time.. we cannot proceed against the GO... and this ladyhas been informed prior about this happening.. and it is not fair on her part to still...stay and claim for this place...

Before ..i could proceed... there was another person.. who is supposed to be a very old gentleman who also stays in my street..came all the way from the crowd and pulled me outside....... he started asking me... what do you think...you dont know anything about this... have you seen any of the demolitions.. before,... you just come from here.... i have seen a lot in my experince.. whatever you say...may not be taken...into consideration... so just come away and dont argue with the person...

damn... how could he speak like that... agreeed from a logical perspective.. what all they say is right..but bloddy... its 9 in the night... and where will the old lady.. go if thier hut is removed... with this massive machinery... she still has some of the cocunts..lying in front of the hut... atleast cant you people see that she is a handicapped..i have interacted with her a lot of times and she also has a kid...

but this gentleman.. knows me right from my kindergarden days... he doesnt allow me to speak anymore.. and we started an argument...right there.. where i refuse to leave from the situation and he desperately wants to pull me out...

i went back to the corporation fellow... (all my respect for him has come down really).. i said.. i totally agree with your...G.O.. and other formalities.. but i guess this is not the right time do clear this place.. come on where will she go... please come back tommorrow morning and carry on with your execution... when there is day light.... atleast give them a 'nights' time to clear things from the hut... where will this small kid sleep in the night... and what do you going to achieve by executing your G.O this very minute... cant you just wait for the sun to rise..

By the moment .. i completed this sentence.. my neighbour uncle... started again... back to me... cant you understand.... just come out from there.. dont argue.... i said.. fine i am coming ... all i asking is a request to wait till morning... and after this its upto... you... by this time.. my uncle..or the so called old man.. pulled me holding my hands from the crowd.. and wanted me to go to home... he said... you better go to politics..(with a smile)...

I just smiled back.. and went back to home.... still worrying what could have happened.. there

The next day morning.. i was so anxious to go back and see what really happened... to my surpise... the hut was there... but couldnt see the lady

While coming back from office the same day evening...... I wanted to make sure to just have a look at the place... it was even more pleasant surpise for me.. the hut has been shifted little backwards from the existing place... so that it doesnt block the road expansion....

Sometimes complex problems do have very simple solutions..... :D and i saw the same lady sititng with tender cocunts lying all around.. and her little girl playin with a small roadside puppy...

Now comes the second question...
Who invented Idli?

We had paddy fields... we had water.. and we had fire... how did concept of Idli evolve??? how it striked to grind rice and mix with water to make paste and bake it in steam ??? how all this evolved... who invented this??

Think everytime when you eat idli next time :P who invented idli ??? if you ask me.. even i am researching on this....
